MShift on GM 6L80?

A forum for discussing applications and implementations of the MegaShift transmission controller code for the GPIO from B&G. This can control up to 8-speeds and 6 shift solenoids (plus a 16x9 table for controlling a PWM line pressure valve). It has manual and fully automatic modes (16x9 load x speed table), with under and over rev-limit protection, and full data logging of all inputs and outputs (among many other abilities). A TransStim to test your completed board is also available.

Has anybody done this?

Can MShift do this?
Best regards

Philip,

From what I understand the 6L80E has its controller built right in to the transmission. To use megashift, you would have to remove that controller and connect directly to the appropriate solenoids. So it's not as easy as using MShift on many other transmissions.

As well, the 6l80E is physically very large, and often won't fit into vehicles designed for other transmissions like the 4L60E. That doesn't mean it can't be done, but does make the 6L80E somewhat less desirable for retrofit applications.

Thanks Lance

Is there another 6sp (or 8sp) transmission that would work better with Megashift? (that has been done and working?)

Phil.

There are 6 speed kits for the 4L80E, its bit expencive if you want a real 6 speed since you need to change some gears as well.

In your case having a lot of BMW in ZA I would look for a ZF8HPxx
