Control ZF 5hp19 TipTronic

A forum for discussing applications and implementations of the MegaShift transmission controller code for the GPIO from B&G. This can control up to 8-speeds and 6 shift solenoids (plus a 16x9 table for controlling a PWM line pressure valve). It has manual and fully automatic modes (16x9 load x speed table), with under and over rev-limit protection, and full data logging of all inputs and outputs (among many other abilities). A TransStim to test your completed board is also available.

Control ZF 5hp19 TipTronic

Post by formigoni »

Hello Guys,

My name is Vinicius Formigoni, I'm from Brazil.
Thank you for being part of this Forum.
Sorry for my English.. :D

Would you like some help if possible ...

This board GPIO can control a gearbox ZF 5HP19?

Thank you very much.

Formigoni,

No need to be sorry for your English, it is perfect (and much better than my Portuguese!).

I don't know if the board can control the trans you mention. Someone may have done the homework to find out, and hopefully they will reply with a definitive answer.

If not, you can check yourself with this guide to get a list of what you will need to know: http://www.msgpio.com/manuals/mshift/newtrans.html If you aren't sure abut anything, post here (ideally listing the answers to the questions you can find information for).

It might help to generate some responses if you listed some of the vehicles this trans came in as well. At very least, it would help others to look up specs on your trans.

Formigoni,

That's funny, because we have that exact transmission in one of our test cars (a 1998 VW Passat 1.8T). This car is currently being used for testing other (unreleased and unannounced) projects at the moment, but it is likely it will get MShift at some point. I will attach some of the info I have.

The solenoid logic is shown around page 15.

Ok Lance,

That's good to know that are already testing...

This manual you posted I also already have here in my files.

You have the wiring diagram of a GPIO for this gearbox?
Any picture or PDF file?

Thanks

Formigoni,

I have done no work at all on this transmission with respect to the MShift/GPIO. I am just gathering documents so that I can do it eventually. I will get to implementing MShift on it, but it will very likely be quite a while before I have time for this (because other projects have a higher priority at the moment).

If you (or anyone else) wants to gather and organize the required information (http://www.msgpio.com/manuals/mshift/newtrans.html) that will likely speed things up, like deciding on the required wiring, parameter setup, and code changes, etc..

Hello people,

Unable to make progress on this project, I am in search of parts for after starting work.
The gearbox I bought came missing many parts.

Thank you,

16V-Sauger,

Unfortunately, our test car with this trans blew its engine, so we have done no work on this recently.
