Speed Sensor Questions (5v)

A forum for discussing applications and implementations of the MegaShift transmission controller code for the GPIO from B&G. This can control up to 8-speeds and 6 shift solenoids (plus a 16x9 table for controlling a PWM line pressure valve). It has manual and fully automatic modes (16x9 load x speed table), with under and over rev-limit protection, and full data logging of all inputs and outputs (among many other abilities). A TransStim to test your completed board is also available.

Speed Sensor Questions (5v)

Post by shaodome »

So I have yet to get the VSS to work as expected thus far, but it has created a couple questions:

Do the manual shift buttons work even if the VSS isn't reading? I would think not, but it would be great to know for troubleshooting other issues.

I need to double check the wiring on the sensor but according to the FSM (and previous experience/use with it) it is supposed to put out a 5v square wave pulse, which would be perfect. Something told me to check the sensor output voltage BEFORE connecting the GPIO to the harness and I'm glad I did. On the "signal" wire from the sensor I saw a resounding 12ish volts, despite that not being what it is supposed to do. I have a 5.6zener diode in the circuit inside the ECU but regardless...not cool

I'm running the VSS direct to the processor pin with a Jumper from bottom of R59 to bottom of R42.

Attached is the diagram for the toyota VSS

So I have it wired correctly, but there is something going on with the GPIO hardware. If I connect the GPIO ampseal connector, the sensor doesn't work. If I disconnect it from the circuit, it pulses an LED just fine.

Ideas?

Nevermind......DUR!!!!! Q13 was in the circuit still. Works fine now.
