MegaShift™ AA80E Wiring
This page provides information on how the AA80E 8-speed automatic transmission from Toyota (Lexus) operates with the MegaShift™ controller, as well as the TunerStudioMS settings needed to configure the controller.
The AA80E is a 8-speed (with two overdrive gears), electronically controlled transmission, with ratios:
Gear | Ratio |
1 | 4.596 |
2 | 2.724 |
3 | 1.863 |
4 | 1.464 |
5 | 1.231 |
6 | 1.000 |
7 | 0.824 |
8 | 0.685 |
Reverse | 2.176 |
The AA80E output pattern for the shift solenoids is:
Gear↓ | SL1 | SL2 | SL3 | SL4 | SL5 | SL |
P | ON | off | off | off | off | off |
N | ON | off | off | off | off | off |
R | off | off | off | ON | off | ON |

6 | off | ON | off | ON | off | ON |
7 | off | ON | ON | off | off | ON |
8 | off | ON | off | off | ON | ON |
SR is always on. SL on in 2nd through 8th in manual mode. Output assignments are:
Torque converter clutch lockup via the SLU solenoid is permrtited only in 6th, 7th, and 8th gears.

Intermediate speed sensor NC3 detects the speed of intermediate shaft. All the speed sensors are Hall type devices.
The shift position is determined using the PL, RL, NL, and DL switches (which are active high). The paddle switches ground the input to activate the shift.
