Megashift licensing

In the link below it states that the purchase of the microsquirt module card grants the user the license to run the megasquirt firmware on third party hardware based on the module.

When implementing transmission control on an ecu based on the us module and ms2extra firmware, would a second module need to be installed to run the megashift code? or does the license allow for the code to be run on a microcontroller installed on the main board?

choasad,

The MShift firmware is designed to be used on a GPIO board. While it can physically be installed and run on an MS2/MicroSquirt/module processor, the support circuits aren't all suitable for use on as MShift inputs outputs.

MShift may not be used on a processor installed on any non-B&G board, even if that board has a separate B&G processor (MS2, microsquirt module, etc.) installed. That is, the MShift firmware may only be installed on a processor (and associated PCB) that originates with B&G.

So you cannot create a board that uses the microsquirt module, and then install your own MC9S12 processor to run a transmission using the MShift firmware without express written permission (i.e. an MShift specific license) from Bowling and Grippo.

However, I don't completely understand what you are trying to do. In any case, this isn't really a forum matter, so I will send you a private message shortly and we can discuss this further.

Lance.
