Is there a way to change the input type of vr for the vss to an inductive proximity switch that is reading the yoke of the driveshaft? The prox can put out a high or low signal (+ or -) and is capable of 700hz. So it should be able to handle the frequency and it will put out a full 12vdc signal. But, how do I modify the current vr input to accept that type? And can I drop down to 4 pulses per revolution?
Or can I just map one of the other inputs that accept that signal and then use it for the vss ?

I just built the mshift and am actually using it in my 4wd suburban with a 4l60e. The current vss has been difficult to get stable and then I still need to work on the output so my speedo and ABS will work.

But, how do I modify the current vr input to accept that type?

It should work 'as is'. In fact, the circuit will be better than with a VR, if only because the zero-crossings are steeper and don't vary with RPM on either edge. The signal will still need to be clean, of course, just like with a VR.

4 pulses per revolution will work.

Thanks. Well, that is what I thought. I tried it with sourcing prox and when connected, with no pulses, the speedo just stayed at 100mph. When triggering the switch it didn't change either. I have a sinking prox as well, but I figured that the current circuit would work with the sourcing.
I then realized that I was already using the vr3 for my up shift button. So I was wondering if that circuit and my sinking prox wouldn't be a better choice for my vr1 vss. I am running v4.125 .

One side question too, I was going to wire in my tach signal from the engine, but how is the tach signal used in the software ? Is it only used in rpm limits and slip calculations ? Or is there some other benefit ?
