If a person had a service manual & could identify which wires control each part of the trans, would it be helpful to log voltages on each to gain some understanding of what each circuit is going under a given rpm & load? From there that data could be used to figure how to properly wire the trans up to MS. Just thinking aloud here.
To the OP, didn't mean to strike a nerve! I intended to bring up a dead subject in case there was anyone out there with some new developments, or even someone that's toyed around with this.

I found some ZF docs that seemed pretty good. I'm trying to talk Todd into it.

Good deal! Let me know if I can be of assistance.
I have a few docs I've compiled also.

don´t know whether that:
is of any information.
It´s out of a link:
http://www.7-forum.com/forum/5/4hp24-wa ... 690-2.html from a BMW-7series forum where people seem to control the 4HP24 already. Thanks to Nosch for sending the link to me.
I could try to register there to ask for info - if only I knew what to ask for. I have read the "checklist" from Lance, but maybe there is some manual printed by ZF where all this is contained ? Someone wrote he had a wiring diagram in that thread.

Hi,
the diagram above will have sth. to do with a:
-Siemens LOGO 12/24 Rc
which the BMW people use to control the ZF box.

Hi,
maybe some valueable? information could be found here:
http://www.europeantransmissions.com/Bu ... agnose.pdf
(I know, this relates to the 4HP22, but maybe they are similar)
(from this website
http://www.europeantransmissions.com/Bu ... echlib.htm)
(there are other .pdf´s, I saw one with a description of the pins of the connector from the ZF. And in the Member-area there is a hint to a wiring diagram, if only I had access ...)
(Lance, I think this supersedes my PM to you)

this seems to answer quite some of the questions that Lance asked a page ahead:

Thanks landybehr for the links.
Now that I have MS running on my car, I may take a stab at this separate project over the winter.

I´ve only been the herald. Credits need to go to "Nosch", who found the links.

I have yet to finish this & have most of the controller built. It's been a while since I looked at my notes but IIRC the biggest questions I had unanswered were:
1. When should the torque converter lockup & unlock?
2. At what frequencies should line pressure be modulated?
3. Can the trigger wheel inside the 4hp tranny be used as a speed sensor to MS & if so does some type of conditioning circuit need to be built?
Keep me posted on how things come out for you. This would be a very cool advance for this tranny, especially for those of us already running MegaSquirt for ecu.

Hi all,
We have the ZF 4HP24 running with a MS3.
Only shifting is harsh. Manual gear change works ok.
Anyone else?
