Re: Awwww dang

NM, I just ordered the bare board and did the BOM thing with Digi-Key. Hey, it's just money, right?

Awwww dang

I'm finally after all these years ready to crank up my GPIO mshift. Trouble is, I can't find my transtim. I built it a couple years ago, had it in the box with the rest of the mshift stuff. Now need it, nowhere to be found. Went and looked at DIYautotune, don't see it for sale there. all there is is...

Re: VSS hookup question

Wow, time goes by. Sorry I never answered. Thanks for taking time to reply. I'm going to try running the speedo off the GPIO to avoid splicing wires. I'm hoping to avoid having VSS issues since this is a very simple setup in a 57 Chev pickup. My vague plan is to run a main ground point on the back o...

VSS hookup question

Have 4L60E, has VSS on tailshaft housing. I found the pigtail I bought for it was wrong, but discovered a CTS pigtail seems to fit perfectly. Now, I need to hook this up to the GPIO and also an aftermarket electronic speedo. I see there's been a lot of issues with the VSS signal over the years. How ...

Re: any reason the DLP-TXRX gizmo wouldn't work on a GPIO?

I did manage to get the 2 strand wire soldered into the tiny vias near the processor. When you say "MS-II/V3 and GPIO serial circuits are electronically the same" how much the same are they? In the instructions for the USB converter device they mention pulling the RS232 IC if it's socketed...

Re: any reason the DLP-TXRX gizmo wouldn't work on a GPIO?

after a couple hours tedious screwing around I finally got 2 wires inserted in the tiny vias near CPU pins 38 and 39. I found some 26 gauge stranded wire in my old wire box. turns out if I cut off all but two of the strands and struggle awhile I can get them to go thru the via. here's a couple pics ...

any reason the DLP-TXRX gizmo wouldn't work on a GPIO?

as mentioned in title, DIYautotune is selling the DLP-TXRX serial to USB converter for use with various MS EFI controllers. Any reason this wouldn't work with a GPIO? looks pretty simple, have to find a good place to cut the Rx/Tx traces on the board. see http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/dlptxrx-i...

Re: issues connecting to GPIO

installed the slightly under-spec VReg, found reasonably correct voltages on all three legs. still no joy, board seems dead. in order to repair the 12V supply trace sanded off the end of the board I used a haywire from 12V supply in an unused section, GPO3. slipped while testing voltages at Vreg, sh...

Re: issues connecting to GPIO

Well, I found this at Fry's, it's an NTE IC-POS VR 5V 1A . V in is 35 max, 15 watt Pd. It's a little short of the 1.5 amp specified, but I'm going to try it. Easy to change, maybe it will act as a fuse if there really is a short to ground somewhere. :) Always the optimist......
