Re: AA80E 8-speed

I've downloaded CodeWarrior and installed it and have been searching through the files to find the port designations but clearly I'm missing something. I downloaded the 5202 zip file and did not find either the main.c or the ports_pins.h file in the unzipped contents so I looked through all the othe...

Re: AA80E 8-speed

Thanks, good tip. I'll pass it along to Matt as well but I expect I'll be the one doing the work and just asking him to check it when he can. I've got some guys in this weekend working on cars but I hope to download the software later tomorrow. That sounds like about a 20% reduction is what it will ...

Re: AA80E 8-speed

OK, I'll pursue that. I also have a couple of people searching for any possible student editions of CW at reduced cost, if you're aware of anything that'd help. So just as a guideline can you give me a rough idea of how far above the free version cutoff the present code is? Would I have to pare away...

Re: AA80E 8-speed

OK, but wouldn't I need CodeWarrior to do that?

Re: AA80E 8-speed

That sounds positive. I'll need to get more details on how to set that up, is it something that I can do, or do I need your help? And that only leaves one problem, an input for the paddle upshift. Here we do have options: -PAD4 (VR2) -PEO (auto mode/kickdown) -AD5 (non-CAN input) Any of these seem u...

Re: AA80E 8-speed

There is no way PT6 can be set up with an output option?

I mean, it IS an input/output right? All I need is one pulse every time the controller commands a shift. That would be enough to do the trick.

Re: AA80E 8-speed

If switching those two ports is too complicated to mess with maybe the best approach is for me to just switch the wires back. At least that way the upshift paddle will work. I can do that in the wiring harness or in the jumpers which in this case are hard wired with jumpers soldered on the bottom of...

Re: AA80E 8-speed

Thanks Lance, maybe there is a solution here somewhere. I'm still digging for tech info on the new GM/Ford 10 speed, but so far my impression is that it may not have any more solenoids than this one as it seems to have about the came number of shifting elements (clutches, brakes) but apparently it a...

Re: AA80E 8-speed

OK, I can see how that makes sense. But this much I am sure of, the danged thing is never coming out of Limp mode without a Shift Trigger. Which makes it a very large, heavy, expensive, time consuming and complicated 1 speed transmission. I realize this means there has to be a code variant just for ...

Re: AA80E 8-speed

Lance, I've got to admit I've been wondering for awhile now why you won't just switch the ports. (AD4 and PT6)

We talked about this way back before I built the controller, and I thought you said you could do that. Is it that difficult?
