I think the 68RFE is very similar to the 5-45RFE, they share the same design. So it should be possible to control it with MShift.
I've been working on the 5-45RFE but dont have time at to moment to complete the setup.

Yes the gear vendors is solenoid operated. It's either on or off. Can be turned on in any gear at any rpm.
