Re: subaru "5eat" also used in nissan g35 and titan

I have been at work on this almost every day for weeks! It is so cool to learn about! I am working on identifying all the wiring and will eventually match up the Stock TCU wires (complete with wire colors) to the Megashift Ampseal pinout, making it cut and dry for the Subaru Community to partake in ...

Re: subaru "5eat" also used in nissan g35 and titan

I put a little more thought into it, about whether to pull out the stock TCU or leave it connected. Pros to leaving it connected in limited fashion: PRND combination meter lights will still function. Also there would be no CAN error message on the trip meter. Possibility stock AWD lockup logic would...

Re: subaru "5eat" also used in nissan g35 and titan

Now I feel slllooowwww. That definitely clarifies the shift position switches  Perhaps other folks will find it something to consider, that the 5eat ECU ups the idle rpm in P/N. The AT-to-MT conversion guys encountered this when their shifter neutral position switch would sense N during a shif...

Re: subaru "5eat" also used in nissan g35 and titan

I can't type too much, on the iPhone, break from late night working. Very basically, this is how I invision it working the easiest, while still having full functionality (Lance or Frank please correct me since I don't want to drive anyone crazy on the code if I accidentally suggest something that is...

Re: subaru "5eat" also used in nissan g35 and titan

A center differential controller from Jeff at DCCDPro.com might control the center diff solenoid perfectly. I will get in touch with him later. His controller uses a 2-axis G sensor and TPS voltage to determine whether you are accelerating/turning/braking or some combination. Cost is steep, but if i...

Re: subaru "5eat" also used in nissan g35 and titan

Lance, I am indebted to you. I'm going to further research some of the things you have written to better understand the language. Separately, it appears that no matter how I might connect MegaShift, the AWD lockup solenoid is always going to be without stock TCU control. If the stock TCU will think ...

Re: subaru "5eat" also used in nissan g35 and titan

More on the "physical swap" side of things, it appears after more research that anyone doing this install might choose to completely pull out the stock TCU. The LegacyGT thread on swapping to a manual transmission is very revealing. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/another-5eat-6m...

Re: subaru "5eat" also used in nissan g35 and titan

Alright, after lots of edits, the post above should have all the information we talked about before. Except: I think I figured out a point of confusion. I have read the Subaru manual and all the MSGPIO.com pages many times now. As far as I can tell, the Subaru 5EAT does not have any sort of outputs ...

Re: subaru "5eat" also used in nissan g35 and titan

ClimberD, If this was mine, I would use a MAP sensor as the load sensor. They are inexpensive, common, and easy to package (and no worries about leaks on install or over time). MAP sensors more responsive than you need in a trans application - the load has to be averaged over time anyhow or the tra...

Re: subaru "5eat" also used in nissan g35 and titan

Thank you Lance! Separately, is there a preferred sensor or sensorXsensor table for referencing Load for MegaShift with turbo cars? I would love your feedback. Some quick thoughts: TPS would give the earliest shift response, but is the least accurate indicator of engine torque. MAP would be the slow...
